[He barks a short, startled laugh, glancing toward her again as a smile tugs at the corners of his lips.]

Didn't you bring be here to apologize for kissing me? And now you're talking about doing it again.

[He's teasing her now, he's clearly teasing. Because this is more comfortable ground with her, pretending like it wasn't anything serious. That there's no way she could have feelings for him that he's mercilessly shooting down.]

[ Roxy giggles. This is WAY better than being serious. Being serious just leads to bad feels, and ain't nobody got time for those. They've reached their bad feels quota for the next millennium with that nightmare bullshit. Kissing is a much nicer topic. ]

I'm just bein' honest? I really liked kissin' you, it was fun. And... [ Her face turns red. ]

It was nice. Iunno, if you don't have any intentions on askin' any girls out, wouldn't it be okay to fool around a lil'?

[He groans quietly, burying his face in his hands. How could this happen to him, Hajime Hinata?! This is the kind of thing that happens to protagonists in manga.

This really is the ideal situation for anyone, isn't it?! Physical affection with no strings attached. He'd be a fool to say no.]

[He says without pulling his hands away from his face. There's what he saw in her face earlier, first of all, not to mention,]

I don't think I can be that kind of person. Who can just, you know, fool around. Sorry...

[ She laughs again. ]

Well, it was worth a shot. Can I at least have a hug?

[Hug is a go! He shifts in closer and wraps his arms around her in a tight embrace, hiding his face over her shoulder so she can't see his flush. He... still isn't totally sure how he feels about any of this. It's one thing to talk big about not wanting anyone to be hurt, but it's quite another to try to leave it alone entirely, too.

For now, he just lets himself hug her, relishing the warmth.]

[ Roxy may be a hormonal and... eager... teenager, but she won't overstep boundaries if she can help it. She tries to do the right thing as often as possible! Returning the hug with an affectionate squeeze, she pulls away and smiles up at him with a satisfied smile. She's good with hugs, see? ]

[He laughs again, a little more quietly, and shakes his head. Not in denial! Just in a kind of helpless exasperation.]

[He says, even though he's told basically like... just Souda... and Dirk made some Inferences that Hinata's not sure means whether he's figured it out or not.]

Hmm... not sure if I've met her yet? I'm sure she's super cute if she's caught your eye, though. [ Roxy's sure that whoever she is, she's totally hot, and probably super smart to boot, because that's the kind of gal he deserves. For all Roxy's posturing, it is just that: posturing. This Ichinose girl's probably a thousand times better than her at everything, including looks. ]

[Another laugh as he clasps his hands in front of him and leans forward, nodding at her.]

Yeah, she's really cute... she loves stationary and notebooks more than anything. Except maybe the Fabricator. She's... just incredibly kind and enthusiastic, which I really admire. People like that are incredible.

She's also... really hard to predict. I like that about her.

[So while she might be cute, Hinata has a whole laundry list of reasons why he likes her. A lot of that list could apply to Roxy too, though.]

You'd like her, I think.

[ Roxy beams; her own feelings are irrelevant and she knows it. All that matters to her is his happiness. ]

She sounds incredible. I'd love to meet her sometime. Are you gonna take her to the party?

She's going to make me dress up. But I mean, she's usually around the Fabricator. I mean it, you two would definitely get along.

[Maybe if she befriends cute Hajime, she won't be as sad... Hinata's not (as much of) an idiot, he knows she can't exactly be happy about it. But he means it, too; they would definitely be friends, and he just wants them to be happy.]

[ Roxy stands and stretches cat-like, her unwavering smile just a little bit too forced. She turns so she's facing away from him, her lips pressing into a thin line. ] I'm sure I will!

Uhm-- I'm gonna take off for a bit. Should probs check on my garden. [ She should probably go check on her garden. ]

[He inhales and exhales quietly, watching her stand and feeling his heart twist in his chest. He's hurt her, he knows he has. He hadn't realized just how deeply, though.

His shoulders slump, and he just nods, not without concern.]

I'll probably head back to my room. If you need me... you know where I'll be.

Yeah.

[ Roxy pulls her hood up over her head, obscuring her face from view, and teleports out of the room with the blink of an eye, off to her garden. She likes going there to be alone and to think, both things she really needs to do right now. ]
