week 08, tuesday, 12AM, faize's room
[Roxy's apparently checking on Inaba because Inaba's afraid of cats climbing into her vents (again) (even though Ranulf is 2big), so while she's visiting that particular resident of Hell Floor, Hinata's stopped by to knock on Faize's. Knock knock, asshole. No, seriously, knock know. He's going to keep knocking until Faize opens it, because psssh what is bedtime??]
Faize, it's Hajime. C'mon, wake up.
[Hanging out in the hall all by himself seems shitty?? Don't leave him hanging, bro.]

Hajime, it's the middle of the night...what is it?
[His beauty sleep, man, you're interrupting it. This better be important.]

That few inches is enough of an invitation for Hinata to try to squirm his way in. Let Him In!! Please don't just squish him in the door that would be so rude.]
Roxy's gone to meet with Inaba.
[That should sound innocent enough to anyone else who might have their doors open, but also?? It should mean Let Me In Faize.]

[For a moment, he just stares at Hinata incredulously. Like, really? That's what you woke him up for? Your girlfriend wanted to hang out with her gal pal instead of sleep with you? But then it seems to click and Faize suddenly seems about 100% more awake. He sighs, rather convincingly. Like e's doing Hinata some huge favor here.]
Well I can't blame you not wanting to stand out in the hallway alone while she does that. [He opens the door more widely so that Hinata will have no trouble getting in, then closes it once they're both safely inside. And...turns on the lights because oops those were still off.]
What reason did she give you for this excursion of hers?
no subject
Once it does, he sighs in audible relief, offering a smile and a quick,] Thanks, Faize, [Before letting the door close behind him. Even without the lights, he could probably navigate his way to his usual bed, taking a seat there to glance up at the other boy and shake his head.]
She said Inaba's afraid something's going to come through her vents again. [You can absolutely hear the incredulity in his voice. As if to say does she really think I'm going to believe that..?] Did you talk to either of them today?
no subject
[Even Faize looks incredulous for a second. Really, Roxy? That was the best excuse you could come up with? You expect ANYBODY to believe that?]
I...did, as a matter of fact. I meant to mention it to you, actually, but with this week's motive, it completely slipped my mind. I spoke with Inaba early this morning. I asked her if it would be possible for me to take Alisha's place in their group.
[WELL HE SURE DOESN'T WASTE ANY TIME WITH THIS SHIT, DOES HE?]
She said that it was not her decision to make alone, and that she would have to give me an answer later, after she'd spoken with others. [He glances over his shoulder at the door, as if trying to see through it.] I wonder if that's what this is actually about...

[And you didn't invite him?! For a moment he looks almost offended, but then nods. No, that makes sense. After all, it wouldn't do for her to know both of them are involved... probably? He's never really been much to think about this kind of thing, but he trusts Faize to do the right thing.
Instead he follows Faize's glance to the door, bringing a hand to his chin in contemplation.]
I wonder... you might be right about that. I mean, I think if they were going to talk about anything else, Roxy wouldn't mind telling me. She's pretty forthcoming about, uh... most things.
[Good old Roxy Lalonde.]
Do you think they'll do it...?
no subject
Yes. My apologies for not informing you beforehand, but I felt that if I waited too long to ask, it might look odd. Not to mention...you are something of a wild card in all this. You did not have a chance to speak to Roxy before Katerina contacted us, so I believe it likely that neither Roxy nor Inaba have realized just how much you know about the situation. And we should strive to keep it that way, for as long as possible. It gives us more options.
[Gotta cover all the angles here. Don't worry, Hinata. You leave the planning parts to Faize. He'll figure out what they're up to so that he can twist it and feed Katerina false info. Because he still has 0 intention of backstabbing the secret girl team. Faize finally takes a seat on his bed, sighing.]
I don't know. Inaba said there was a possibility that the answer would be no, but she seems to trust me. I suppose it's a matter of weighing their odds. If they can manage with a team of two, they will likely say no and we will have to come up with a different approach.
no subject
[He exhales through his nose and rests his head in his hands, just trying to think it over. At least he's got Faize for the hard shit, because otherwise, he'd be totally screwed. This kind of planning is definitely not something he ever thought he'd need.]
What kind of approach do you think we could possibly take? If they don't want you to join them, then... All we could really do is try to steal Inaba's laptop, right?
no subject
[Honestly, Faize is just good at strategy. This isn't the way he'd like to use these skills at all, but...with the lives of both his crew and Hinata's classmates on the line, you gotta do what you gotta do. Or, at least, pretend to do so. Enough to make it look like they're trying so Katerina won't do the thing.]
We could attempt to steal it...though there are two potential problems with this. Those documents may not be on her laptop any longer, for I advised Alisha to have Inaba delete them. [Conveniently leaving out the part where deleted data can still be salvaged if you know what you're doing. Because he assumes Katerina is listening in and she doesn't need to know that particular fact, just yet. Gotta keep as many of his cards in his hands and off the table as possible for now.] I have no way of knowing if she actually told her to do so or if Inaba actually listened, however. So the ciphers could still be where they are, perhaps with even more "weeks" added.
[Since she said there was one for every week, right? Like a diary of sorts.]
But even if they are, that still leaves the bigger issue, which is getting our hands on her laptop at all. When she does not have it with her, it is locked safely in her room. Neither of us can fit into the vents and locks cannot be picked. So our options are immensely limited.
