Night Six
[Yeah, Hinata's not going anywhere tonight. He's just curled up in a particular spot of the jungle, not too far in. A careful observer might be able to see something almost like ruts in the ground. It's probable that there was a wheelchair in this particular spot at some point.
But right now, there's just Hinata, sitting against a tree with his knees drawn into his chest, staring blankly straight ahead. He's got Rei's phone in one hand and is just-- staring. He doesn't even seem to really react once he sees Pearl. He's probably not the best company right now...

[ she begins, dully, in response to his unsaid question. part of her is reminded of when they'd all voted for yamato, back during the fourth trial. she'd been given more time to let it settle, and while it's-- perhaps unfair, mentioning it now, she never had.
they don't have any time. not anymore. ]
You saw things I didn't.
[ she's not good at understanding people. reading people, because she's not a... human. ]

Hinata's pain is too raw, too new for him to comment, but he just nods. It's true. From almost the moment they'd arrived, it seemed like they'd started losing people. Hinata had argued in favor of Yamato, back then. At the time, he didn't know who else he could possibly have voted for.
When he finally speaks again, his voice is quiet, his clenched fist just resting on the ground.]
What do you mean? Are you asking... who I think could be suspicious at this point?

[ she's at the end of her rope.
if she hears the arguments people have now, perhaps she has a chance to... do something herself, before someone else is taken away. to do something right, rather than something wrong.
she doesn't approach any closer, but-- she does crouch, now. ]
I want to return the rest of you home.

That's... all I've wanted to do from the beginning. I just want everyone to go back home. To... to go back to their ordinary lives.
[He inhales a deep breath and forces himself to meet Pearl's eyes, gaze flicking over her face as if that might help him read her. He doesn't have his Kokoronpa skill -- this isn't island mode, and that game stuff is ambiguous anyway -- but... it seems like she genuinely wants information.
A sigh, and he nods, seeming to reach a decision with himself.]
I don't... have any conclusive evidence one way or another. All I have is based on... observation. You heard what I told Fuuma; I talk to people during the day, because I think... the way people behave around each other is the most important thing to pay attention to, you know? I'm... I'm not capable enough to talk to everyone alone and try to piece things together like that. I've always... thought we could do our best if we all work together.
[HA. HA. THIS VILLAGE IS SO GOOD AT WORKING TOGETHER TO LYNCH INNOCENT PEOPLE...]
But right now... Bols is still the person I feel strongest about. Like I said earlier, I think... there's something off about him. How he was so insistent that people could vote for him, that he didn't mind dying, but when it came down to an innocent person's life, [Yamato,] or his own, he didn't hesitate. There's a clear contradiction there.
A-aside from that, I'm still... not entirely certain that I buy Kanesada's story about Kashuu and Kuninaga. Melborn goes missing, and his dagger has blood on it. Kashuu has a wound that could come from a dagger, and yet... Kanesada was convinced that it was Kuninaga who was the general. That doesn't make sense to me. It seems like he's trying to assign blame to a party that isn't... isn't around to defend itself anymore. That doesn't explain why he'd choose Kuninaga over Kashuu, though... I don't know enough about them.
Are... you following so far?

His reasoning was that he... "didn't need to do his job, before then", when I asked him why he'd done what he did. [ ... ] If only the Fox had checked Bols.
[ it just. it seemed so... obvious, after yamato... so obvious that she wasn't sure if she could even think him guilty, regardless of what he'd done. did that even make sense?? nothing makes sense.
when hinata mentions kashuu, however, there's no hiding the fact that she tenses. kashuu... without hesitation: ]
And I'm also certain Kashuu wasn't the General.
[ she had no idea what the hell he was up to that night, but this-- this she's certain of. elaborating: ]
... I spoke to Kashuu that night. He'd-- his reaction to what Gi-ne had said, had done... [ it was strong. genuine. ] He told me he was going to speak with the rest of the swords that night, because he believed Souza knew there was a traitor when he told them about Jason.
[ she will defend cashew's honor until her last breath. ]
I don't... understand, why he'd have an injury that matches Royce's dagger, but ... if Kashuu had gone through the effort to hide his body, if he killed him, why not hide the knife as well? I don't doubt Kashuu and Royce met, but... not as a General and his prey.
